ONLY SHOWS THE 2 PHASES RIGHT NOW....
The applet below demonstrates how the liquid-phase compositional path changes, as a
magma with a given bulk composition is subjected to decreasing temperatures and a portion
(%) begins to crystallize (solid-phase).
How to use this applet:
Select a bulk composition for the the magma (rock). The bulk composition (BC) will be
composed of varying amounts of CaAl2Si2O8 (Anorthite)(An), Mg2SiO4 (Fosterite)(Fo) and
CaMg(SiO3)2 (Diopside)(Di).
A line will appear representing the compositional path the liquid-phase travels as the
magma begins to crystallize mineral(s) (solid phase)
